So here is a link to a news article from 1999 about Fannie Mae and gives a partial insight into why we are in such a financial mess. The Fannie Mae Corporation eased the credit requirements on loans in an effort to increase home ownership rates among minorities and low-income consumers. It makes one stop and think about it. Yes we should help out the poor, but how much is too much? In the end you are not really helping people out if the government has to step in and bail out a company to keep it from going bankrupt.
